Volunteers

Volunteers at the TLP are needed for tutoring, mentoring, workshop presentations, house keeping and other tasks. Volunteers can work with the staff to develop their ideas on how to help as well.

TLP is also looking for volunteer groups who'd be interested in adopting a room.  There are six bedrooms in the house that need a little tender loving care.  This is a great opportunity that would allow a group to be creative.  The rooms could use anything a fresh coat of paint and new curtains, to new beds and bedding or improved storage or even nice posters and artwork to decorate the walls.

Students at the High School of Commerce raised money through a carnation sale and bought this beautiful fish tank for children and moms to enjoy during their stay at the shelter.Volunteers also host special drives to collect donations for the TLP.  These drives often collect diapers, wipes and other baby items.  On occassion, groups hold drives for special items.  The students at the High School of Commerce host Carnations for Kids each fall and have raised money to buy a Creative Playthings Swingset and a beautiful aquarium for the children and moms to enjoy during their stay at the shelter.

Volunteers are welcome any day of the week.  The best hours on Monday - Friday are 3:00 pm through 10:00 pm and the best hours on Saturday and Sunday are 10:00 am through 10:00 pm.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old or if under the age of 18 a parent or legal guardian must accompany them. Volunteers must sign and adhere to a confidentiality agreement.
